Executive Bio

 

Sean Harley

Founder and Managing Director

 

Sean Harley has been a leader in global procurement since 1999, focused on designing and implementing global sourcing and supplier performance programs and systems for large and medium industrial enterprises.

 

Sean has worked with companies ranging from multinational conglomerates managing highly complex global spend to mid-sized manufacturers with specific needs to streamline their supply chain, improve supplier performance or reduce component costs. His work has focused on industries that procure engineered materials including oil & gas, diversified manufacturing, high tech, pharmaceuticals, and automotive firms. In his current position, Sean has worked with firms such as BP, National Express, Tenneco, King Pharmaceuticals, Creo (Kodak Graphics), and Watlow Electric to reduce cost by over $200 million while improving supplier performance.

 

Sean began his career in procurement at FreeMarkets, a global technology firm. Sean was a founding team member and operations lead for FreeMarkets Tokyo, where he led a 10-person team that initiated FreeMarkets’ first client relationships in Japan and executed sourcing projects totaling $150 million for oil & gas and manufacturing customers. He served in a similar capacity for FreeMarkets Singapore.  Later, he managed enterprise-wide sourcing programs enabling one computer manufacturer to source over $1 billion online and save over $150 million in a single fiscal year.


Sean began his career as a U.S. Navy Lieutenant and Electronics Material Officer on the USS Arkansas (CGN-41), a 600-foot nuclear-powered cruiser. He has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University.
